Santa

 I saw this man at the parking lot of the 99 cent Store. He had bright white flowing hair and beard reminiscent of Gandalf. I thought he was homeless, until he got into his car. The shrunken head dangling from his rear-view mirror was an excellent touch.

I get inspired when I listen to music, but who doesn't right? I get these images in my head, or an idea for animation to go with the music and/or lyrics. So I just went ahead picked a song I love and tried to capture what it means to me, or what triggers my imagination. Here's the first of hopefully, many little 'non-animated, Fantasia-esque" inspired illustrations, inspired by my favorite songs/music/bands.......eh you get the picture. (no pun intended).

PS- I apologize in advance if you do not share my musical tastes.

3B Show

Tonight I went to Gallery 1988 in Santa Monica to the opening reception of the 3B Show, where they showcased artwork inspired by the 3B films: Back to the Future, Beetlejuice, and Bill and Ted. Lots of great stuff. My fellow Calartian, Benton "story artist on regular show" Connor, had his art displayed and had one sold! Wooot, go Benton! The biggest attraction had to be the two Back to the Future DeLorean replicas parked outside on the street, gull wing doors open for anyone to sit and have a photo opp. There was also a cool little used book store, a hat store, and a coffee shop next door to the Gallery, so the area was full of hipsters.
The night was bitter sweet, which I will illustrate in a comic. Hopefully. If I remember.

1.21  Gigawatts!

Benton next to  his award winning masterpiece....Ok, he didn't win any award, but at least it will now adorn a BTTF enthusiast's living room wall. Or diner. Or clocktower.

Sketchin' : La Purisima Mission

This is the historical mission back in my hometown of Lompoc, California. It's a great place for a weekend stroll, jog, bike ride, or sketch session, and farm animals to draw.

Compositions

   I drew these while riding in the backseat in car, on my way to see my newborn nephew. They were sketched really quickly so if they're undecipherable, I apologize, but it was fun.  There's lots of composition in nature!

These are the coolest trees ever! They have great rhythm and gesture. Only found in Santa Barbara(to my knowledge) I call them Dr. Seuss trees.
