Yosemite Comic

So I'm on my first real comic! It's gonna be in watercolor and ink. I'm illustrating an experience I had with some friends at Yosemite, so I'm excited.

Right now I've been doing concept art deciding whether to illustrate it all ink and watercolor or just the characters with ink. I decided on the latter, to help bring the characters out.















































































These ones were more abstract which I really love. It's so moody and atmospheric. Yosemite has a lot of that. I'm going to try to do the backgrounds like this.

Thanks to Nat Fast and his creative illustration class or this project would not be happening. He showed me some awesome watercolor techniques that blew my mind!

My Dad

I love drawing caricatures! My dad hates being drawn or photographed. I don't know why, but I think he's fun to draw, or else I would not have done this little number. Sorry it's a bit cut off, my scanner is to darn small. :/

iPod Art: Sunsets, Owls, trees, and Deer!

I love sunsets, and that's what I seem to stop and paint on my ipod frequently. I just love the colors in a sunset.

I got a glimpse of an awesome owl on a tree, till he flew away. But watching him fly was awesome!

This was a real treat! On a bike ride today in the backcountry, I saw dozens of deer grazing out in the field. It looks like this is their favorite spot because I caught them here last time on a previous bike ride.

I just got a new application for my iPod, its called 'Brushes.' Its a paint application where you paint with your finger on your ipod touch or phone. Its really awesome, though was hard at first to get used to. It acts like real paint, since there is no eraser tool, just an undo button. But I think this ok because its like painting with real paint, where you don't get an eraser.
Its a great tool, I mostly got it for color studies, cause I stink at color, so this is nice to have if I see some cool compositions or colors. Of course, this does not mean I'll stop drawing with pencil in my sketchbook. This app is just another tool for the artist. Here's some I did this past week. The first complete one I did was the one with the ocean. More to come!
